Novit Terms of Use
Last updated: 16 September 2026
These terms cover your use of Novit, an email app for Android provided by Buildplaystoreapps ("Novit", "we", "us", or "our").
By installing or using Novit, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
In short: Novit is free, has no account, and connects to email accounts you already have. It is provided as it is, it is not a backup of your mail, and what you do in it happens on your real mailbox.
1. What Novit is
Novit is an app that runs on your device and connects to your existing email accounts using standard email protocols (IMAP and SMTP). It shows, organises, searches and sends your mail.
Novit is not an email service. We do not provide, host, or store your email account, and we do not carry your messages. Your email provider does that, and you need an account with one to use Novit at all.
2. Your accounts and your provider
- You are responsible for the email accounts you add, and for keeping your sign-in details and your device secure.
- Your provider's own terms continue to govern your mailbox. Novit cannot change what your provider allows, and a provider may block, rate-limit or close an account for reasons outside our control.
- Add only accounts you are entitled to use.
3. Using Novit
Use Novit lawfully. In particular, do not use it to send unlawful, deceptive or unsolicited bulk mail, to reach an account you do not have permission to use, or to interfere with anyone's systems or services.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age in your country, to use Novit.
4. What Novit does to your mail
Actions you take in Novit take effect on your real mailbox. Archiving, deleting, marking as read and sending all happen on your provider's servers, and deleting a message may be permanent.
Novit sorts your mail with fixed rules that run on your device. Those rules can be wrong about a message: something may be put in the wrong section, or not picked up at all. Novit is a way to read your mail, not a judgement about what matters, and you should not rely on it to catch everything.
Novit is not a backup. Its local copy of your mail exists so the app is fast and works offline. It can be cleared by you, by Android, or by reinstalling the app. Keep anything you cannot lose with your provider, or somewhere else.
5. Cost
Novit is free. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions at present. If that changes, you will be told before it affects you, and paid features will be sold through Google Play under its terms.
6. Availability, updates and support
We may change, update, or stop offering Novit or any of its features. Email providers also change their systems, which can break a feature without warning.
Novit is distributed through Google Play, and Google's terms apply to that distribution. Support is by email, at the address in section 12, and we cannot promise a response time.
7. Intellectual property
Novit, its design, and its name belong to us. These terms do not give you any rights in them beyond using the app as it is intended.
Your mail is yours. We claim nothing in it, and as the privacy policy says, we never receive it.
8. Privacy
The privacy policy explains what Novit accesses and where that information goes. In short, your mail, contacts and sign-in details stay on your device and travel only to your own email provider.
9. No warranty
Novit is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that a message will be delivered, sorted, or notified about, or that it will work with any particular provider or device.
10. Your rights as a consumer
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other consumer law that applies to you and cannot be excluded. Sections 9 and 11 apply only so far as that law allows.
If you use Novit for business purposes, the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply to that use.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost, deleted, mis-sent, delayed or mis-sorted mail, lost data, or loss of profit, revenue or goodwill, arising from your use of Novit.
12. Changes, governing law and contact
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date above changes when we do, and continuing to use Novit means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.
